Our 2 year old daughter Ripley was diagnosed with high risk Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in January 2017. Throughout her treatment we were supported by countless healthcare professionals and charities all doing their best to make things as easy as possible for us as a family. Unfortunately Ripley passed away as a result of her Leukaemia in October 2017.

We were lucky that Ripley remained her usual energetic and cheeky self until the very end. She had a positive impact on the lives of everyone she met and was a kind and empathetic little girl who didn’t like to see anyone else sad or in pain. We are fundraising for the many charities that supported us in this time so that they can continue their great work supporting other families, easing some of their sadness and pain, in memory of Ripley.

Grand Appeal is the Wallace and Gromit charity that supports Bristol Children's Hospital. We feel very lucky to live locally to such an amazing hospital where Ripley received all of her treatment.

The small things the charity helps the hospital provide make a big difference, some of these were as simple as an emergency wash bag for our first few nights before we were able to go home or as large as the ongoing support from the play and music therapy teams both of which Ripley adored.

There were times when Ripely did not like the medical procedures that needed to be done. But this not once deterred her from enjoying her visits to the hospital. To Ripley both Ward 34 and Day Beds were one (or two) big playrooms and she was always more than happy to hop in the car for a visit, sometimes asking for a trip to the hospital.
