Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Over the past year, walking and running has helped to change my life massively in so many ways.  I recently decided that if something as small as a 10k walk could do this for me then why not try and share it with others and see if it can help to change other peoples lives too.

After several months of running the rain soaked streets of Coventry and Kenilworth, I have decided to put my aching muscles to good use and enter my first ever distance running event.

Hopefully, as time goes on, I will be able to progress on to longer distance events like half-marathons and marathons and raise lots of money for good causes along the way.

For years I had always wanted to run long distance races but could never manage to run for longer than 10 minutes without being exhausted.  Having flat feet, persistent back and joint pains, being overweight and having spent 3 years recovering from reconstructive knee surgery didn't help the situation either.

This 10k run is being organised by the charity Age UK which raises funds to help vulnerable, elderly people living in the UK.  This event is part of their 'spread the warmth' campaign which aims to help people through the cold winter weather.  Every year, cold temperatures result in the needless death of over 26,000 people with 4.5 million elderly people in the UK living in fuel poverty.

Please help by making a donation and by informing friends about this page too.
