Martin Cornwell, Andrew O Donnell and I are raising money for the Neo Natal baby unit at Ipswich Hospital. The reason we are raising money for this particular charity is because my brother Martin had a difficult start to parenthood as his wife Kerry unexpectedly gave birth to Charlie Rae Cornwell. 

 

Charlie was born on the 1st May 2013 11 weeks premature; he weighed 2lb 15oz. For the first 2 weeks of Charlie’s life he was in Intensive care with the aid of life support.

 

It developed that Charlie in fact had serious respiratory distress as a valve on his heart hadn't closed properly which stopped him from progressing; it was a very slow process in total he was in hospital for 50 days.

 

During these 50 days Kerry Martin and Charlie received exceptional help, care and attention from all the staff within the special baby care unit. Charlie returned home on Oxygen for a further 6 weeks.

 

Charlie has now defied all the odds against him and is now enjoying life to the max with no medical problems.

 

We want to raise as much money as possible for the Neo Netal Unit and with your help they will be able to afford to buy the equipment they need to support other families who need the support for their little ones during these distressing times.

 

We all want to show our gratitude and thanks to the NHS Neo Natal Care Unit for all the support they gave to Martin, Kerry and Charlie as well as all the help other families will need for their precious babies.

 

To raise money we have decided to complete 3 extreme Assault courses starting with the Gladiator in February then we attempt the Insane Terrain in May and finish with the tough mudder in July.
