Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

Mum has been diagnosed with MS for just over 25 years - she has the progressive type of MS.

She was a primary school teacher for many years and carried on until she was nearly 60. One of the things she loved to do when she was young was to go swimming in the sea with me and my sisters when we were on holiday. She had to stop swimming but to celebrate her 60th birthday she flew to Lanzarote with my dad and did a wheel chair dive in an adapted wheelchair which was an unforgettable experience for her. She’s now a grandmother of 3 and loves spending time with all of her family and friends and when she can she enjoys going to see live music and theatre and going to weekly yoga classes run by her local MS group.

Her determination to carry on working and enjoying life despite MS will give me a reason to keep going on the long walk and I know that she’ll be backing me all the way as I raise awareness to help find treatments and a cure for MS in the future.
