Story
Hello, my name is Rob Earl and I manage a football team for South Bank Baptist Church and we compete in the North East Christian Fellowship League. One of our players - Chris Bargewell (the guy in the picture with his Dad) is raising money by organising a Charity Match which will take place on the 18th May at the Riverside Stadium, 10am kick off. If people would like to come to watch this match, it is £3 a ticket and all proceeds go to the Cancer Research UK Charity. I need to raise £300 so I need all the help I can get, so if you could sponsor me, I would be very grateful.
Chris Bargewell's Dad (Stuart) is currently battling against Cancer for the 3rd time which has motivated Chris to organise an event where we as people can unite and take part in this fight against Cancer!
Here is a few words written by Chris in italics, so you can understand more about the type of Cancer that Stuart Bargewell is fighting against.
"Hi Guys here’s the brief description of my dad’s battle with bowel cancer. In 2007 my Dad (Stuart Bargewell) was diagnosed with bowel cancer after having a polyp removed. My Dad was treated in James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough. Treatment seemed to have gone well having removed part of the bowel".
" In 2010 we were devastated to hear that my Dad had a tumour growing on his liver. My Dad was referred to St James’s hospital in Leeds were he had Part of his liver removed, I say part 70% to be exact. My Dad having had this done had six gruelling months of chemotherapy".
"After the chemotherapy he was given some better news that he was in remission and two years past. We thought everything was going well until the doctors told my Dad that their was something growing on his lungs. Further tests were done and our worst fears were confirmed the nodules growing on his lungs contained cancer cells. So My dad has had two operations on his lungs to remove seven nodules and he is still waiting to have a third operation to remove the last one. He then has to have another six months of chemotherapy".
"I hope this brief description of what My dad and this family has been through has given you everything you need to help with raising money for Cancer Research to help beat this disease. Together we will beat Cancer!"
