Story

Rob Smith, 42, has a 10 year old daughter, is a lover of Rugby
and has been an IT sales professional for over twenty years predominantly in the Insurance industry.

Three years ago, Rob’s best friend, Neil, was diagnosed with Oesophagus and Lung Cancer and given only a few weeks to live. Sadly, Neil passed away in 2012 leaving a wife and new born baby. Just over a month later, Rob’s mother Maureen passed away after a twenty-five-year battle with multiple cancers. One month after,
Rob then found himself diagnosed with Cancer. Having undergone surgery and chemotherapy and an extensive 2-year
battle, Rob eventually overcame the disease.

Firstly during April
2016, Rob Smith, will be undertaking a 220km expedition to the North pole over a period of 23 days.

Rob will then be undertaking the second part of the expedition goal, a completely new route through the Antarctic to the South Pole. With Eric Philips, OAM and three other individuals, from November 2016 to January 2017, the group will be venturing 640km  across the Antarctic on a new route, which will be announced one week before the voyage commences. This will be the first time since Sir Ernest Shackleton, 100 years ago, that a British explorer has attempted a new route to the South Pole.
