Story
2 years ago I had a shock diagnosis of Blood Cancer. This news was beyond comprehension for my family. Being a doting dad to two young girls this particularly hit me hard, but giving in was never an option.
I’m still battling for my life today, but it’s not just about me. It has been an incredibly tough journey for my Wife and my eldest daughter who was 4yrs old at the time I was diagnosed. They had to watch me become weak through chemotherapy and sometimes being in hospital for weeks on end through infections. Also having to live separately from them in quarantine for months due to covid.
Cavendish Cancer Care reached out to us to offer support for my Wife and Daughter, and have been a fantastic outlet for them both. They are a small charity and my good friend Rob has stepped up to do a fundraiser for them which is incredibly kind.
Over to Rob………
I’ve decided to run the white rose ultra marathon to raise some cash for Cavendish as it’s helped my good friend as written above.
The white rose ultra is a 60 mile ultra marathon that takes place around the Huddersfield area and I am far from an ultra marathoner. Just picture a fat lad from Wakefield (and there I am). I’ve given up the booze and am banging as many miles as I can in to try and get round this. Anyone who knows me can attest that I’m no athlete, so I’ll earn your dollar bills in blood sweat and definitely tears.
Thanks so much for taking the time read this and for giving us your hard earned cash.
