Around 4-5 months ago i finally surrendered and admitted defeat. I could no longer battle my mental health on my own and decided it was time to speak up and get help. I can easily say this was one of the hardest things i have ever had to do in my life. This may sound stupid to some but those who have experienced this themselves or been around someone who has will understand.
I was ashamed, embarrassed and scared of what my friends and family would think but i couldn't do it on my own anymore. I can now proudly say this was the best decision i made regardless of how hard it was at the time. I am finally getting the help i need and i don't have to hide it from anyone or pretend i am okay when i am not!
I want to share my story in the hope that it helps just one person. I can't express how thankful i am for my family, friends and work colleagues without them i wouldn't have been able to get to where i am today. No matter how scary it seems i promise you there are people who care and speaking about it and getting the help you need doesn't make you weak it makes you the strongest person!
I have also been luckily enough to have the most supportive work ever! They have helped me through this and also allowed me to raise awareness in the work place and hold amazing events like this one.. Tea & Talk! It is so important that Metal Health becomes a normal thing to be spoke about and i hope with all your help this becomes possible.
On Thursday 10th October (World Mental Health Day) we will be holding a Tea & Talk event at my work. There will be games, lots of cakes and sweets, tea etc etc every penny raised of course will be going to the below. I would love for everyone to pop along if they can to buy some cake and if you cant even just £1 goes a long way!
Without the help of these sort of charities i don't know where i would be today. Unfortunately the NHS just don't have the resources or staffing to cope with the demand for help with Mental Health so it is so important we all help each other and support these causes.
Thank you so much xxx
