Team Rockjumper/Zeiss representing Rockjumper Birding Tours and Zeiss Optics, are thrilled for the first time to be a part of Champions-of-the-Flyway, the world’s greatest bird race, held in Israel on March 26th, 2018.

Travelling from all four directions, our team of four shall assemble in Israel. From the south, our Team Captain Adam Riley will be flying in from South Africa, George Armistead will be travelling from Philadelphia in the west, Tuomas Seimola will be coming from the frozen north of Finland and Mike Pope will be coming from the east where he is based in Kuwait. Together we are proud to represent Rockjumper, the largest birding tour company in the world, and Zeiss Sports Optics, the producer of the world’s highest quality birding optics, and to participate in this great conservation event to help protect the miracle of migration.

Many people are surprised to learn that the deserts of Israel could provide such fabulous bird-watching, but the geography and geology of the area is such that it fills with birds during the spring and fall migrations.

This March, our team will descend on Eilat and try to rack up as many species as possible, aiming to hit above the mark of 165 species, to hopefully contend among the best teams. Rockjumper has a strong conservation ethic, with a new department dedicated to Rockjumper Conservation Tours, and also uses the Rockjumper Bird Conservation Fund to provide support to various conservation groups around the world. Now we take a new step towards trying to protect birds and wildlife, as participants in COTF.

We really need your help. Please join us and become a Flyway Champion by donating to fund direct action by our friends - the expert conservationists at Biom (BirdLife Croatia) and Bird Protection and Study Society of Serbia (BirdLife Serbia) - who are acting to stop the unacceptable illegal killing and trapping of migratory birds.

Please ADD YOUR EMAIL when you donate, so we can update you on the race and the important conservation action you are supporting.

Thank you. We are grateful for your donation!
