Story
Hi thank you visiting my just giving page. I’m a veteran who has struggled following military service, but with a great family, circle of friends and colleagues I’m doing fine. I’m both privileged and delighted to be taking part in the 42nd US Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC on 22 Oct 2017. The Allied Forces Foundation (AFF) is a British – American Foundation that works to raise awareness and funding for wounded service personnel, veterans and their families, particularly those affected by the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The AFF are supporting this event in the belief that allies who fought together and are wounded injured or Ill (WII) as a result of their service that miss the comradeship and teamwork are able to raise awareness. Moreover, in so doing renew self confidence, self esteem and provide a focus for recovery and rehabilitation.
I would like to use this opportunity to raise funds for a Waterloo Uncovered which is a ground breaking charity that combines world class archaeology with veteran care and recovery.
I had the amazing opportunity to take part in Waterloo Uncovered (WU) archaeological dig in Belgium this year, and had such a great time, learning so much about the battle of Waterloo and conflict archaeology. The best bit was the camaraderie, banter and getting away from it all which was tremendous, it felt like being part of a supportive family with a common goal.
In raising funds for WU, I will enable more veterans to share this fantastic experience in 2018, which ticks all the boxes in giving the WII veterans such a rewarding and valuable experience away from their day to day lives.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
