Run the 2022 London Marathon for a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

I am running the 2022 London Marathon in memory because I want to help Meningitis Research Foundation achieve their goal of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia. I am also running this marathon in memory of my late brother Andrew David Albrecht.

Here is my family's story:

My older Brother Drew Albrecht died from Bacterial Meningitis on July 7, 2004 at age 15 years old. Drew was an athlete and contracted meningitis after attending football camp for Bothell High School. He passed away within 72 hours of his first symptoms and his primary symptom was a headache. I was 9 years old at the time of his death and this tragedy changed my family's life forever. Drew was an inspiration to many including myself. He was nominated outstanding student, awarded consecutive humanitarian awards, and voted most inspirational by his teammates. There are many awards today in his honor at the schools he attended and sports organizations he was a part of. Drew brought a light into the world, he was a happy guy, and made others laugh. It would mean a lot to me and my family to receive your donation in his memory. We believe strongly in Meningitis Research Foundations mission for a world free from Meningitis by 2030 so no other family has to endure the pain of losing a loved one like we did.
