As a proud employee at City Hospitals Sunderland I am very fortunate to have a great gym on-site. It covers a wide range of classes delivered by fantastic instructors but also accommodates those who wish to do their own thing. I've been a member of this gym for a while now and have become part of a 'gym family' who are managed by a very enthusiastic and passionate lady, Ann Calvert. Ann came up with an idea to do a 30 day challenge for regular gym members aka ' the die hards' and I thought this would be a great opportunity to raise funds for B26 whilst doing so. We have all completed this challenge and have now embarked on another, well 3 to be exact. After completing a wall sit challenge, 30 day full body challenge and the Sunderland 10k my next personal challenge is the Lampton 10k. Every ounce of sweat and grit is so worthy of this cause. The reason I would like to raise funds for this ward are specific to my own personal story. Last year my sister sadly passed away, she had a chronic condition, similar to other patients being treat on B26. These patients require a specific kind of care, care which is very demanding and impacts greatly on the staff and the patients families. My sister spent 4 weeks on this ward and her every need was attended too. The staff showed great compassion and tried to accommodate our needs too. We were so grateful to be able to spend my sisters final days by her bedside and to be with her whilst she passed away comfortable and not in pain. Therefore, any funds raised for B26 will help to support the ward and other families in similar situations. Any donations made will be greatly appreciated. Alternatively if you are a gym member and would like to join in on our challenge you are more than welcome :)
