Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My story? Well it starts with me being afraid of heights!  It's particularly bad if I can actually see how high up I am!  The London Eye was especially difficult for me!

The next bit of my story is that I'm heading off to Sydney in Australia for Easter to visit my son, who I haven't seen in two years!  I'm extremely excited!  I'll be accompanied by my daughter (his sister) and we both can't wait to see him!

In Sydney, there's the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which is very high and I set myself a challenge to walk over it!  Eeeek!   I then thought that if I could raise some money for a charity in the process, it would give me the incentive to complete the challenge!

So which charity?  Well, my father had a form of dementia and my mother always said that it was "the long goodbye".  I lost my father long before he passed away - a very sad time all round - and so I chose the Alzheimer's Society.

I'd be very grateful for any donations - however small.  Apart from helping a very vital charity, the money raised will help me conquer the terror I will most definitely feel when I take the first step on the long walk over the top of the bridge.  It's a good job I won't be holding hands with anyone - they would be badly bruised!

Thank you for reading this!

MONDAY, 20 April - London

Well I did it!!! It was pretty scary but there were only a couple of moments when I really felt bad. Thanks must go to our guide who kept my mind off the height with his jokes and my daughter, Natalie, who helped me breathe when it all got a bit too much. That was right at the top when we had to wait by ourselves while our guide was taking photos

Congratulations to the two young women who became engaged to be married right on the top of the bridge. A perfect setting with the sunset and a wonderful view!! I wish them all the happiness there is for their future together.

Thank you to everyone who has donated. I am spurred on to do something similar again.
