Story
Well, I made it. I had a great day, and am so happy to have been part of this huge event. I made it round in about 5 hours and 8 minutes - a great achievement for me! I finished the London Marathon without having to stop or to walk at all which I am really pleased about.
I also feel very fortunate to be physically fit and able to run that distance (even if it was at a fairly slow run!)
I ran the Marathon for Scope, the leading charity for people with cerebral palsy. I have pledged to raise £1700 for this fantastic charity.
Scope's aim is that disabled people achieve equality, and I support them in this aim. Scope campaigns on local and national issues, raising awareness of the needs of people with disabilities, and campaigning for equality. They also offer a whole range of high-quality services to children and adults with cerebral palsy.
£4.50 will buy an adapted can opener to make it easier for a disabled person to prepare a meal independently
£10.00 a month will help toward the running costs of Scope's valuable information service for disabled people, their families and carers
£60.00 will buy a single chin switch so that a person who cannot use their hands can operate equipment like a computer
£120.00 will help provide remote control equipment, such as door and window openers
a big thank you to everyone that has sponsored me. Any new donations would still be really welcome. All the money goes to Scope for their work. I have been touched by friends' kindness and generosity. Thank you so much :)
