Event: Redevelopment of the Conference Centre to create an International Education Hub

Story

We are fundraising to transform access to the College, improving the experience for visitors to the College and creating a new public exhibition space to showcase our collections.

The College has exciting plans to:

  • Create a fully-accessible public entrance to the College
  • Create a modern reception linking to all other levels in the College
  • Provide a new public exhibition space to showcase our collections
  • Improve circulation around the buildings with a bespoke lift to all levels
  • Improve the Conference Centre for delegates and visitors

Since the 1860s, the College has been based in Queen Street in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Throughout the centuries, we have continually adapted our buildings to make the best use of the space available and meet the needs of physicians.

Our  buidlings feature a stunning Great Hall used for meetings and social events for the College and external clients. In 1986, we opened the Queen Mother Conference Centre, one of the largest purpose-built lecture theatres in Edinburgh, with tiered seating for 300 delegates. The Conference Centre has enabled us to provide physicians with an extensive educational programme and a offers a complete hub for conferences and events.

In order for us to remain at the forefront of health education, we
have developed plans to transform the access to our buildings, improving the experience for visitors to the College and creating a new public exhibition space to showcase our collections.

To realise our vision for international medical education, we hope you will support us by donating.
