Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those close to our family will know the struggle that Holly has had with her eating disorder. This year has been particularly challenging and we are so pleased with her progress. The support she is receiving on her journey is amazing and we are so lucky to have been in the position to obtain it -some or indeed most are not. For this reason, I choose Beat to support on my challenge. Beat offers a free helpline, online support groups and face-to-face support that I know Holly has engaged with along her journey. They provide incredible help to every person that suffers, making no judgment, and often fill a gap that the NHS cannot.

And oh what a challenge.......the route is marked as tough and looking at the mountains I know what they mean.

We will be cycling on average 60 miles a day uphill......I have been training hard BUT I have a torn cartilage and will be having an op on my return. So with steroid injections and lots of tape .....I am hoping it will be fine.... It swells a lot and is painful but I will have at the forefront of my mind the cause I am raising for. Eating disorders are relentless, they deal with this pain all the time and there is no relief.....Painkillers do the trick for me most of the time and I'm not one to give in lightly....I mean who takes their bike on holiday abroad to be sure training doesn't stop! I will be thinking of Holly and just keep pedalling, just like she has this year.

So all I am asking is for a small donation. I have lots of friends and if they all give £5 - £10 then we will make a difference - so just 4 Starbucks coffees and you will make a difference.

All the money I make goes directly to the charity as paid for the flights/accommodation etc myself.

Must go Watt Bike calling and today its an endurance session listening to Woman's Hour Podcast. Anyone got any podcast recommendations?
