I've always had long hair and for a while I have wanted to donate it to a wig making charity. I found the little princess trust and the story was so impairing I chose them to send my hair to. I cut off 9 inches which will mean a child will have a wig with real hair they can style whatever way they want. They cannot fund for all the wigs themselves and rely on donations so everything you can give is important.
