We need to raise more than £20K a year to fund cardiac rehabilitation in Bucks

Charity Registration No. 1074811

Yes, I know I have asked you before and this is my 3rd time, but I do keep it to once a year and HEARTS & SOULS is such a deserving voluntary run local charity who support one of the best free Cardiac Rehabilitation programmes in the country that transformed my life, right here in South Bucks.

Having benefited first hand from this excellent/invaluable/vital/essential (I can't pick the right word) service at Wycombe hospital in 2017 and previously after another cardiac episode in 2013, it gave me the confidence and knowledge to go on to lose weight, improve my diet, exercise to regain my fitness & health levels which in turn led to running and improving my whole lifestyle and general well-being all without the fear of another cardiac event.

I had not run since the 1993 Wycombe half marathon and following a heart attack in Dec 2016 (aged 58), I started out cautiously on the 5km Wycombe Rye parkrun in Oct 2017 and only recently decided to ‘push the boundaries’ further and attempt my first 10km race.

This has been made possible through the kind help and support I received from the local running community and it is with gratitude that I’m joined on in this fund raising effort by – ANN SMITH, THERESA BALL and WARREN BENNET

I have chosen the RIDGE OFF ROADER 10K, a challenging mainly off road course taking in 3 steep hills because the start and finish are exactly where I had my heart attack while out walking and this has become something of a personal challenge.

HEARTS & SOULS is a local registered charity set up in 1997 to raise more than £25,000 a year to fund the exercise classes, equipment and specialist trainers for the award-winning cardiac rehabilitation programme in Buckinghamshire.

This helps around 1,000 patients get back to normal life after cardiac events every year.  This part of the rehabilitation programme is not funded by the NHS and relies entirely on charitable donations and without Hearts & Souls this service simply could not exist.
