Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I became involved with MAD-Aid (www.mad-aid.org.uk) through my brother in March 2022 and since then, my brother and husband have become volunteers - helping to collect aid for the Ukraine and those who have fled to neighbouring Moldova.

I started volunteering with the charity too - and in January 2023 I officially joined the MAD-Aid team.

Together with its partners, donors, volunteers, and trustees, MAD-Aid—a UK-based charity—Makes A Difference in the lives of children and adults through its core programmes.

These include delivering medical and humanitarian aid to Moldova and the Ukraine and providing support to mothers and children taking refuge from the war in Ukraine.

MAD-Aid also runs a day centre for children with special needs in Moldova, together with early intervention and rehabilitation services, and a care home for the elderly.

Here in the UK, MAD-Aid supports Ukrainians living on the Isle of Wight who have fled Ukraine following the outbreak of the Ukraine war.

MAD-Aid is an amazing charity - which was established in 2012 and has more than ten years of experience in getting aid to Moldova - and the Ukraine during the past year - but all this amazing aid work needs money to keep it going.

To raise funds for MAD-Aid, I will be running/walking 100km (62 miles) from Richmond in London to Brighton Racecourse, which overlooks Brighton seafront.

In a bizarre twist of fate, I also took up my 2020 London Marathon place and I did this iconic 26.2-mile race on April 23, as part of my training for the London 2 Brighton challenge.

A world where children and adults with special needs have access to the same opportunities as others to fulfil their life’s ambitions; a world where we can all live safely with dignity, respect, and quality care. We work towards this vision by developing and executing programs in the Republic of Moldova, the poorest country in Europe. We started with the Medical Aid Delivery program. The program facilitates the transfer of high-quality equipment no longer needed by British hospitals (NHS) to hospitals in dire need of improvement. At the same time, it helps the UK hospitals save the cost of storage or disposal of equipment they no longer need. We went on to establish and operate a UK-standard modern day care and early intervention and rehabilitation centre for children and teenagers with special needs. We aim to Make A Difference.
