Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Niko Kontoyannis and running Marathons is my passion. Every year I combine this passion with fundraising towards the relief of a rare disease that affects primarily children, called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. My cousin - Nicolas - was diagnosed with Histio when he was 1 month old. Thirty three years later, he continues to beat the disease.

There is no cure - yet - for Histio but there are many associations globally that are trying to raise awareness and funding for this purpose, as well as to provide guidance to affected families. The "Histiocytosis Research Trust", based in the UK, is one of them and the Lonon Marathon of 2014 is my opportunity to raise money this year.
