Story
The Stroke Association is a cause close to my heart. In 2012 while my parents planned a long and happy retirement together filled with travel plans my mum suffered a devastating stoke it affected movement, speech, everything really.
Although for a number of years after rehab mum was able to enjoy a different life and her new grandchildren brought her much joy the stroke still robbed our family of many years of an active wife, mother and grandmother.
After a long decline, that accelerated rapidly towards an undignified end, mum died and was laid to rest in February 2022. On the anniversary of her passing I wanted to do something to help other families not have to go through this and so am raising funds for the Stroke Association.
Mum was a keen supporter of my running since my first half marathon at the Great North Run in 2009 which kickstarted my love of running, and so it seems fitting to run this one in her memory.
Thank you for your support
Adrian
