Story
I'm sure some of you would not have heard of Paget's Disease;
Paget's disease of bone interferes with your body's normal recycling process, in which new bone tissue gradually replaces old bone tissue. Over time, the disease can cause affected bones to become fragile and misshapen. Paget's disease of bone most commonly occurs in the pelvis, skull, spine and legs.
Some facts:
Paget's disease affects from 1.5 to 8.0% of the population and is most common in those of British descent. It is primarily diagnosed in older people and is rare in people less than 55 years of age. Men are more commonly affected than women
Too many of us take for granted the normal every day tasks and activities that we are all fortunate to be able to do, those with Paget's disease are challenged every minute of every single day.
Fundraising will go towards the drugs that are effective for the treatment of Paget's disease, they calm down the over activity within the bone and it makes the bone behave in a more normal way and can relieve pain.
Yes, I'll be putting myself through the pain barrier once again, 26.2 miles on the 28th April....20 weeks of training throughout the winter months....I have some unfinished business to attend too.....!
BRING IT ON!!!!!
