Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Two years ago, myself and my son Aidan walked the John Muir Trail and climbed the highest mountain in the continental US, Mount Whitney. We raised nearly Eur 8,500 for Bloodwise, a blood cancer charity, and it really made the trip feel worthwhile for both of us. This year we are trying to go one better and climb Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayas. Aconcagua has the second highest vertical ascent in the world, and is a serious mountain that kills people on a regular basis. Because of the size of the task (and of the mountain!) we want to try and eclipse the fund raising of two years ago and raise £12,000 which will really make a huge difference to the charity we are supporting.

That charity is Maidstone Mediation. Bullying of children can shape them their entire lives, whether it is psychological or physical. Maidstone Mediation are a great little charity that I have supported for a few years, and they can help children who are the victims of bullying (amongst many other really worthwhile things related to dispute resolution). It is particularly close to my heart because my daughter Audrey was the victim of bullying at school, and I am sure many people looking at this page have been the victim of bullying, either directly or indirectly through a loved one or a friend.

So please give generously. For those of you that know me, you will know how fat and unfit I am, and you will realise how difficult this will be for me, and the pain and suffering I will go through must be worth a few quid of anyone's money! And for a 14 year old to give this a go must be worth a little bit of sponsorship :-).

Thanks in advance.

Russell
