Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

I will be running the Wendover Woods Marathon, my first such event, on 21st November 2021. This is not a solo effort and I will be raising money along with my friends and fellow runners Lee (aka Mr Marvel!), James, Marc, Richard and Sasha.

My partner’s godson, Matthew, lost his battle recently at only 18 years of age and Lee lost his best man Tim to brain cancer. All of us have been affected in some way by the impact of this terrible disease.

Although awareness has been raised due to the news that pop star Tom Parker from ‘The Wanted’ is battling brain cancer, so much more needs to be done to increase funding and to help sufferers.

If you can, please spare some of your hard earned money for this cause and if not, help raise awareness so people are aware of the symptoms and act early to give them the best possible start in fighting cancer.

I have no doubt running 26 miles is going to hurt but doing it in Matthew and Tim’s memory and knowing we are raising money to help others will make it so worthwhile.

After all, “life is terminal, it’s our job to live it”. (Matthew Pullan)

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
