London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Earlier this year my family and I lost a mum, sister, grandmother daughter and an auntie. To a form of stroke called a subarachnoid haemorrhage. Next year I will be running the London Marathon in memory of Tina and others who have been affected from a stroke.

A stroke is a brain attack. It happens when the blood supply to part of your brain is cut off. In the last 20 years the number of people dying of stroke has halved while the number of major strokes has decreased by 40 per cent. More people than ever are benefitting from cutting-edge treatments and making full recoveries. And more people now understand the need to seek emergency treatment for stroke.
