For those of you who know me, I regularly complain about cyclists on the road and joke about knocking them off as I pass just to give me a laugh on my way to work.  Cycling is not the way I would choose to spend my spare time, and I have not ridden a bike since I was 17 because I learnt to drive.

24 years on and without giving it any thought I signed up to a gruelling 4 day ride from Oswestry in North Wales to Bunratty in Ireland covering 249 miles with day 2 covering 84 miles with 900m climb.

I have begun my training and I have only managed 21 miles which means I am in trouble, serious trouble.  I have just 8 weeks to get myself up to scratch to manage 30 miles let alone 84 miles climbing 900 meters and I am hating every mile of it so far and I do not think my feelings will change.  I even have to wear lycra and padding to protect my backside and my bits.

The only reason I am doing this is because I did not realise that all the heart operations, all the state of the art technology around the heart is ALL funded through the research that the BHF do and considering my father had a major operation 10 years ago he would not be here today if it was not for the British Heart Foundation.

So please sponsor me with all you can.  Doing so gives me no choice but to ride a poxy bike and to raise as much money for a foundation which we will all rely on at some point in our lives. £250 pays for 10 hours of research.
