York Sleepout · 5 April 2019 to 6 April 2019 ·
We're lucky - we all have warm beds in nice houses.
We've chosen to sleep out overnight on 5th April (my birthday!) to support SASH.
We decided Letters would sponsor SASH this year because we have family of a similar age to those SASH supports, and it felt right to raise money for a housing-related charity.
We’re very much aware that young people of around 16-25 are potentially very vulnerable without the right support; if they lose their way it can be life-changing.
The annual SASH Sleepout helps raise money to allow the York-based charity to support over 300 young people per year who face the prospect of having nowhere safe to stay in North and East Yorkshire. SASH provides accommodation through a network of volunteer hosts with a spare room and will to help 16-25 year-olds who are experiencing a crisis in their lives. Last year, 40% of the young people referred to SASH were just 16 or 17 years old.
