More than six people are diagnosed with MND every day. Up to 5,000 people are fighting MND at various stages of the disease. There is no cure for the disease and it can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk, swallow and eventually breathe.

Professor Mark Hepworth from Loughborough's School of Business & Economics, was diagnosed with MND in 2015. Mark has recently retired and has lost his ability to talk. Mark is a beloved colleague and friend to many of the staff in the school.
