Railway Children Sleepout · 31 March 2022

Railway Children has a vision of a world in which no child is lost to the streets. Across the UK, India and Tanzania, our networks provide an opportunity for us to reach children who are alone and vulnerable before they come to serious harm. Together, we’re determined we’ll leave no child behind.

Story

SWGR is proud to support our clients by participating in the Railway Children Sleepout 2022.

Although many of us here in the SWGR and wider rail community have the luxury of a safe, warm bed to sleep in at night, we recognise that there are still others out there who are not as fortunate. SWGR is passionate and is dedicated to supporting the communities we serve by raising awareness about the harsh realities many face every day. By working together with our industry family, colleagues and friends, we can play a part by getting involved in initiatives.

Five members of the SWGR management team will be taking part in the Railway Children Sleepout 2022 – sleeping outdoors overnight in Glasgow Central station. The event raises vital funds in supporting young people who can find themselves without a place to stay and unsure of where to go. The charity does vital work in supporting these people and help drive change for a better future.

The five participants from our team are:

  • Fiona Baggley, Director for Business Services
  • David Kirkwood, Senior Frontline Services Manager
  • Raymond Johnstone, Head of Business Delivery
  • Joe McGinley Jnr, Asset Controller
  • Shannon O'Hare, HR Advisor

We can’t wait to take part and share photos of us at the
sleepout in our green Railway Children beanie hats.
