Story

My running story

I began running in 2019, to lose weight after a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, which, after losing 4 stone, has thankfully been in remission for two years. Much to my surprise, I now find I am somewhat addicted to running, my most recent "target" being running 5,000 miles in 1,000 calendar days.

More on my running "journey" from 'couch to marathon', can be found here:

Why St Wilfrid's Hospice?
Our neighbour’s husband had stage 4 lung cancer and received end of life care from St Wilfrid’s Hospice. A few years later his widow's friend was sadly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and also received support and end of life care from St Wilfrid's Hospice. Everyone in the local area will know of someone who has benefitted from the amazing compassionate work of this truly wonderful charity.

At any one time, St Wilfrid's Hospice are caring for at least 240 patients and they need £20,000 every day to run their range of hospice services and need YOUR support to raise 87% of their annual running costs.

St Wilfrid's Hospice provide palliative and end of life care free to local people in the communities of West Sussex and Hampshire. As a registered charity they rely on donations and fundraising from their supporters to continue making a difference to local lives.

About us - St Wilfrid's Hospice (stwh.co.uk)

Now in their 35th year,  St Wilfrid's Hospice has been providing expert care and compassion for people in the local community with life limiting and terminal illnesses.

I am very grateful to St Wilfrid's Hospice for choosing me to run on their behalf, in the TCS London Marathon next April 2023. I am extremely proud to be a member of #teamwilf.
