Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Fasting teaches us to experience the hunger and thirst of millions around the world. But do we really appreciate how fortunate we are?
One of the most common causes of death in the developing world is drinking dirty and diseased water. We take clean water for granted - even when we have been fasting all day. We can access it freely at the turn of a tap; for those less fortunate than us, it can be a matter of life and death.
In collaboration with Al Mahdi Institute - we aim to help as many as possible. Water projects are currently running in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and West Bank, Palestine, Gaza, Pemba Island and Ethiopia; they have currently provided 226 water wells. From having to travel 2km for every pitcher, they now have access to clean water outside their homes.
£10 provides clean water. £15 provides food for a family for a month. £30 pays for cataract surgery for one person; restoring their eyesight. £75 will sponsor an orphan for three months and will provide income generation to a family by providing them with a sewing machine.
Please open your hearts to the plea of those less fortunate and dig deep. No donation is too small; every penny helps. Along with my friend Fathema (who is raising money for Burma - please visit her page too) we are aiming to help, one small donation at a time.
