On Sunday 14th October 2018, I will be challenging myself to complete the Royal Park London Half Marathon in under 2 hrs-in doing this I would like to raise a small amount for diabetes uk. I have chosen this as my charity for a reason very close to my heart.
In January of 2014 my sister Chantelle was diagnosed with diabetes type 1
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition that causes the pancreas to stop producing insulin - the hormone that regulates blood glucose levels.
Some of you may know my sister personally & will know she is fun loving, caring & strong willed. Chantelle is currently doing everything within her power to control her condition. From her healthy diet to overall lifestyle habits my sister continues to make positive changes to enhance the benefits of the medication & stabilise her health.
Your donations will help towards the ongoing research to providing these medications & with your help I am positive that the forever committed charity diabetes uk will one day find a cure.
Although I know my story is not uncommon, I want to make every step I take during my own personal challenge reflect a positive light on her well being. This thought alone fills me with strength knowing that I could make a difference to her life.
I would like to thank you for all your support as I stride through the amazing streets of London.
