Why I'm raising money for The New School at West Heath
My son started at The New School at West Heath in 2009 after struggling at a mainstream primary school for many years. Before attending The New School getting my son to school was a daily battle, often having the school refuse him or my son refusing to go to school. Following a six month absence from any schooling my son received a place at The New School. My son has enjoyed attending school everyday day and three years on is still keen and enthusiastic. Whilst my son has been at the school we have still had to conquer many challenges in our family life, but with the support of the school we have overcome these.
The School Charity Registration No.: 1069677
The School is a Specialist Independent School catering for a diverse range of needs for boys and girls age 11-19, many of whom have emotional and social communication difficulties. Prior to coming to us, some of our students will have been excluded from mainstream education for a period of time. Here they find a strong therapeutic approach to learning and all students; when they arrive with us, spend time in HEART, our health, education, assessment and revitalising therapy unit, where we can fully establish the strengths and needs of each individual child.
Personal Challenge
It has always been my aim to run a marathon and with my son at the school I now have the time to train and achieve my goal. I would like to give something back to the School which has helped us so much. All donations received will help fund a child’s education through the bursary fund.
