Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This is the second time I try fundraising via just giving, this time me and my two young brothers are doing a run in aid of the British Heart Foundation. We strongly feel that this is a great charity as they play a leading role in the fight against disease of the heart and circulation, so that it is no longer a major cause of disability and premature death.

In a previous sponsored event I completed the London Royal Park Half Marathon but few months after that I had an injury and damaged my knee, subsequently I had to have surgery to reconstruct my ACL ligament, so this is why this time its a 5 K run, in addition my little brother Hayder is only 11 years old  so I think the 5 K will be pushing it for him as well.

My other brother Ali however is probably the fittest out of all of us, he is 14 and already he is planning to do the Nijmegan camp which is a 100 mile march so this 5 K will probably be a piece of cake for him, as for me this will be the first time I do a run after my knee surgery.

What more, I started work again in the West of Scotland and on a daily basis I come across the effects of heart disease on young and old people so I hope this is a chance to make a difference to those affected. I am also hoping to get others thinking about trying to do a bit more when it comes to exercise and try to be aware of our own health and fitness and trying to be kinds to our own hearts and blood vessels, I come across people with vascular disease who will at some point need amputations and I really want people to know that we can stop this before it’s too late.

So if you are healthy, or if you are concerned about your health, if you have good working knees then join us for a 5 k run and help raise funds to the British Heart Foundation, show us your support and try to donate as much as you can.

One more thing, myself and my friends at work have recently lost a dear colleagues in a tragic accident and this has saddened all of us. She had such great potential and would have made an excellent doctor and helped save countless lives. In her loving memory I feel that rather than staying down she would want us to smile and carry contributing to making people live healthier lives, to honour this memory I will do the run in our work uniform.
