The Rainbow Centre works to address the serious problem of child poverty in Sri Lanka. It provides, education, welfare, medical assistance and loving support to children who live on the street, in slum housing and in conditions that threaten their survival.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.

This challenge has been inspired by David's brother Stevie Graham who tragically died in a car accident in 2014. Prior to his accident he had lived and worked in Columbo and intended to ride around Sri Lanka to raise money for The Rainbow Centre; A haven for children who live in appalling conditions.  Its aim is to equip the children with the skills they need to break free from the poverty in which they live. Its primary focus is to enable children to access the educational system. To date, it has enabled 460 children to go to mainstream school.

Since 2014, led by Stef Graham (David's mother) Stevie's family and friends have raised enough funds for a classroom to be built, which is up and running and making a huge impact on the children at The Rainbow Centre. They are now oversubscribed and in desperate need for another classroom. Allthough Stef is no longer here, we will continue to take on the challanges; On Saturday 25th a Feb (over 7 days), a Dutchman (Chris), an Australian / Italian (Sev), 3 Canadian's (Yuri, Wallace and Patrick) and 3 Brits (Sean, Nick and David) will ride from Salalah to Muscat in February, to raise enough funds to build the second classroom.
