Story
Many of you will know that we spend a lot of time travelling back and forward to Birmingham Children's Hospital where Daisy is treated for Retinoblastoma, a rare eye cancer. This is only one of two centres in the whole of the UK that treats this rare disease.
Daisy has retinoblastoma because she has a rare chromosome deletion which also means she has low muscle tone and developmental delays. It is so rare that it is difficult to find information about her condition so it's a case of wait and see how she develops. Birmingham Children's Hospital have launched their Star Appeal to raise £3.65 million to create the UK's first centre for children with rare diseases, to help provide co-ordinated care, treatment and support for children like Daisy.
Stav, Scott and I decided to run the Birmingham Half Marathon to raise funds for this fabulous cause. This is not going to be an easy challenge. I had a c-section just 15 weeks ago. Stav and Scott are ageing ex-paratroopers that are under the misguided belief that they are still young and fit. We would be enormously grateful if you could dig deep for all those children who really need your help.
Thank you for all your support
Sally, Stav and Scott xx
