Being diagnosed with a terminal illness can turn your world upside down. We're here to help people make the most of the time they have left, and provide expert care so that they can die with dignity. Your donation today will help us to be here for people in East London when they need us.

Story

My name is Salman Uddin and I will be doing the London Marathon this year with my good friend Shahib Ali.  We have known each other since school, attended the same college as well as studying at the same university!  We are now both fortunate enough to be working as GP’s in and around Tower Hamlets.

Over the years we have done a few marathons between us and also fundraised for different charitable causes.  Shahib is the more natural athlete having taken part in marathons in different cities and countries with Chicago being the most recent.  He will be aiming to get a PB hopefully and go under 3 and a half hours. For those of you who know me, know that I may not look like your typical marathon runner (the overhanging belly is proving hard to get rid of!), however over the years some of Shahib’s enthusiasm for running has rubbed off on me.  I have done run the London Marathon on 2 previous occasions and am aiming to go under 5 hours this year inshaAllah (God willing).

We have chosen to run for St Joseph’s as being previous residents of Tower Hamlets, and currently working there, we have seen the good work that they do both at a personal and professional capacity.  I have had family members and friends who have benefitted from their support in the most difficult of times.  They provide an essential service that we usually only become aware of when we are faced with dealing with the loss of a loved one.  For that reason we’d like to raise awareness as well as much needed funds to help them in their noble cause.
