Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

After a few years of fundraising individually, Salon Nine & Stretton Day Nursery have joined forces to fundraise for Cancer Research UK. We are doing a sponsored 100ft abseil, fully funded by the participants to ensure that all sponsorship money can directly benefit the worthy cause. The majority of the team fear heights but have accepted the challenge in memory of a friend & colleague of Stretton Day Nursery, Alison Hadfield.( http://www.burtonmail.co.uk/News/Honeymoon-target-for-brave-Alison-25112012.htm ) and Lou Burns of Salon Nine (http://www.burtonmail.co.uk/mother-of-two-who-died-of-breast-cancer-was-a-friend-to-everyone/story-29528608-detail/story.html).

Zoe (Salon Nine) 'on the 19th may 2016 my beautiful sister Lou Burns lost her battle to cancer and sadly left us. Lou was first diagnosed in 2012, aged 42 and if it wasn't for cancer research and all their dedicated work  Lou wouldn't have had the extra 4 years creating more memories with her 2 wonderful boys, her husband, family and many, many friends that loved her so much. We miss her beyond words but will continue to raise funds to help and support charities that one day will find a cure.
On the 9th July 2017 all the team from salon nine, family and friends will be doing a charity abseiling event(100ft cliff!) to help raise vital funds for cancer research. We all, unfortunately, know too many people directly or indirectly,  affected by cancer, and any donation would be gratefully received. Thankyou.
We will post some photos of us on the day, we'll try and smile! but look out for the scary faces!!'

Helen (manager of Stretton Day Nursery ) who also knew Lou said, ‘Ali & Lou may no longer be with us but their inspiration to make the most of every opportunity to live life to the full lives on. I previously challenged my fear of heights with a sponsored 02 climb in London and a skydive, this event is a further major challenge to me & I hope it will help to make a difference to lives affected by cancer. The nerves have already set in but our motto, one life, live, learn & love it reflects our team attitude to live life to the full. It is an opportunity that we would never have chosen but has to be seized in an attempt to raise much needed funds to find a cure for cancer'.
