Sam's lockdown triathlon

Sam's lockdown triathlon · 23 May 2020
Hi, my name is Sam and I am 13 years old. My Dad has suffered with colitis for over 13 years. I sometimes witness my Dad in pain and this makes me really sad. I am hoping to raise money so there can be more research to understand the effects of this illness and to find new treatments. I am also hoping to raise awareness for this medical condition.
My Dad is brave, strong and always has a smile on his face, even though he is suffering with this illness everyday.
Starting this Sunday, the 24th May, for 2 weeks I'm going to be completing 3 challenges everyday. I wish one of my choices could have been swimming, as I love swimming but sadly because of the difficult times we are living in, this isn't possible. So I've chosen activities I can do in my garden.
Daily Challenges
Please help me raise money for this worthwhile cause as it means so much to me and my family.

Day 2: 25 degrees and still super star. 160 laps in 27 minutes & 27 secs. So proud.💜
Day 3: 160 laps on another scorching hot morning but completed in a record breaking time of 25 mins & 4 seconds with the added challenge of skating around the paddling pool. 💜
Day 4: Record time of 23 mins & 35 seconds. Today's added challenge was basket ball with his roller skates on and Maisie our dog getting in the way. You make sit ups look easy. The cool evening air was appreciated. 💜
Day 5: Wow Sam, you are amazing! Your fastest time yet. 160 laps in 19 minutes & 59 seconds. Your skating has certainly improved. I love that you dunked your head in the pool on the way round.😊
Day 6: Sam I love how you always try to add an extra challenge. Today 35 sit ups wearing your skates and with the basket ball. So proud of you.👍🏻
Day 7: It's a fact. Sam doesn't like bur-pees... who does. I know I don't but he keeps on going. Today's added fun was 160 laps whist playing catch and having his Dad squirt him with the water pistol. 1 week down-1 week to go! You've got this Sam.💜
Day 8: As the sun was shining, Sam wanted the hose out, so he could cool down as he skated round. The ground got so slippery so we won't be doing that again. He loved it but he was lucky not to fall over. 35 sit ups in 1 minute.👍🏻
Day 9: 1st June. Some children are returning to school today and as I'm a key worker this meant that Sam needed to go back too. He was so tired when he got home and he didn't think he could do 160 laps. I just explained to him that people that suffer with colitis can't just take a day off when they feel tired; life just carries on and they have to find the energy to get through their day. Sam listened and managed to complete 160 laps with true dedication. Sam you are inspiring!👍🏻😊💜
Day 10: So far, £515 raised. Sam set out to raise £100 and can not quite believe how much he has raised. Thank you so much from all of us for supporting Sam with a charity that is just so important to our family. Sam absolutely thrilled with everyone's generosity.❤️
Day 11: Almost there Sam! Another tiring day at school but I am so proud of your commitment and determination. All 3 challenges completed in great times.👍🏻💜
Day 12: Wow....160 laps in a record breaking time of 17 minutes and 47 seconds. I think it helped listening to music as you were flying round. Your skating has improved so much. What a super shot in the basket too. Some of you would have seen that on his Instagram account. He was very proud of himself. 2 days to go Sam; you've got this. 👍🏻💜
Day 13: Yesterday the amount was £530 and this morning it's an amazing £660. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated.❤️
