On Sunday 8th April 2018 I will be running the “Marathon de Paris”. After being unsuccessful in the ballot for the London Marathon I was still determined to take on the challenge this year and decided that running a marathon in Paris was the ideal alternative.
In January 2017 our family was rocked by the sudden passing of my cousin Lisa Charlton, who died a day before her 24th birthday from what is known as Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). Lisa’s passing came as a huge shock for everyone who knew her but seeing how many lives Lisa touched during her all too short life has given me the inspiration to take on this challenge.
Running a marathon has been on my mind for a couple of years and I always thought I would take on this challenge to raise money for a breast cancer charity in memory of my mum. However, I have chosen to raise money for SUDEP Action as I believe the money raised will have a greater impact on this charity and their efforts to raise awareness of the risks of epilepsy and support bereaved families.

Le dimanche 8 avril 2018, je courrai le "Marathon de Paris".
En janvier 2017, notre famille a été secouée par le décès soudain de ma cousine Lisa Charlton, décédée un jour avant son 24e anniversaire de la mort subite inattendue dans l'épilepsie (SUDEP). Le décès de Lisa a été un énorme choc pour tous ceux qui la connaissaient, mais le fait de voir le nombre de vies que Lisa a touchées pendant sa trop courte vie m'a donné l'inspiration pour relever ce défi.
J'ai eu l'idée de courir un marathon pendant quelques années et j'ai toujours pensé que j'allais relever ce défi afin de recueillir des fonds pour une œuvre caritative du cancer du sein à la mémoire de ma mère. Cependant, j'ai choisi de collecter des fonds pour SUDEP Action, car je pense que l'argent récolté aura un impact plus important sur cette organisation caritative et sur ses efforts de sensibilisation aux risques de l'épilepsie et de soutien aux familles endeuillées.
