Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This page is based on my experiences and my determination to help others from reflecting on my experience living with Diabetes.
I hope you find my story interesting:
I was diagnosed since I was 5. Ever since then, I adapted my lifestyle to find a way to live with Diabetes. It is the constant monitor of blood sugars and injections which need to be carried out, day by day which used to affect me.
Remembering how I used to be frightened of having an injection compared to now makes me realise how impactful being diagnosed with Diabetes is.
It must be difficult for someone who claims they have a phobia of injections to live a life filled with it. This can be the reality.
I used to doubt myself with this medical condition. However, I have changed the way I approached certain situations.
For me, it is important to talk about things like these. However, I think it is just as or even more important to help others for future generations.
I have participated in this before, where in 2015 I walked 5km.
This year, I was inspired to do this again, when I heard about the 'Federation of Diabetes' which informed me how there are people in this world, who do not know that they are diabetic and live a short life as a consequence.
Places in Africa, where 'the region has the highest proportion of undiagnosed diabetes, with over two-thirds (69.2%) of adults currently living with diabetes unaware of their condition. More than half (55.3%) of adults living with diabetes in the Africa Region live in urban areas' showing how there is a global crisis which JDRF help to tackle by helping develop ways of treating and curing Diabetes.
Unfortunately, other people aren't as fortunate as I was to be diagnosed and I want to help them.
