Story
Hi, I’m Sam I have been growing my hair for 4+ years so it is long for enough to make wigs for children who are battling cancer.
It all started when a good friend of mine did the same thing whilst at the rugby club, I said to him that I would do the same. I felt that if I can grow enough to make a full wig that would be awesome, so I started the process.
2 years had passed and it was fairly long, definitely enough to donate but after reading the website of Little Princess Trust (where the hair gets donated to make the wigs). They had a shortage of long hair (over12”) and were having to pay for storage of the shorter length donations. I thought let’s see if I can get it to 12” so they wouldn’t have to pay for storage of my donation.
Another year passed and it is now long! Long enough to donate 12” easy. But being busy with work and trying to fit the hair cut in before my wedding that was taking place in the following months I didn’t get it cut.
Then it was too late and COVID-19 hit us! All into lockdown, no hairdressers, wedding postponed 3 times, but the only plus is now my hair is extremely long after having another years growth through the pandemic.
We’re all now back in lockdown again, but when I am able, the hair will be getting cut and will be donated to the Little Princess Trust to help put a smile on a little girls face.
If the pandemic has shown us anything it’s to be kind to one another and never to take anything for granted. I hope that this may spur others to do something to help others in need.
And all money raised will go to The Candlelighters trust, a charity close to my heart that’s helped many children through the struggles of cancer in Yorkshire.
So please donate and help a fantastic charity.
Stay safe.
Thanks,
Sam
