Mara Ivy will be 5 this year on the 20th August. She was born at 4:04 am in the Rowan Suite at Frimley Park Hospital. The Specialist Bereavement Suite has a special place in my heart, and I know too many other people who have had to use too. The Suite desperately needs refurbishing, and both Farnborough Sands and Frimley Health are raising money to make this happen. I am therefore committing to run 30 k between the 1st and 20th August, and hope to raise some money towards to the cost. Will you donate? The Suite is used far more than people realise, and many heart-breaking and yet precious memories are made in those rooms. I want to give back in some small way as a way of honouring Mara's memory and my memory of her in that place.  

From Frimley Health and Farnborough Sands

The Rowan Suite is used by our specialist bereavement midwife team for those parents facing the most difficult period of their lives. The Suite is next to the labour ward, it has to be for practical reasons, but this does mean that you do run the risk of hearing other mums in labour and also hearing those first new born cries, which is heart breaking to hear. The Suite requires some enhancements to make it as pleasant a place as possible for the parents who are using it.The two main things that will help are air conditioning & sound proofing; two things you won't immediately notice but would be very grateful for. This is what we are fundraising for and the hospital will be ready to make the changes as soon as the target is reached.
