Hi Friends!
In October I will be leaving the UK to take part in a voluntary programme with Y - Care International. The directive of this project is to strengthen the capacity of local YMCA's in Togo with their mission to help youths understand their human rights so they can protect themselves against wrongful imprisonment.
Y - Care International is a charity under International Citizen Service (ICS), which actions programmes to help fight poverty and change the lives of some of the poorest youths in over 20 countries. To achieve this, Y - Care funds programmes which work with local communities to help create peace, improve justice systems, and to help locals to prepare for and respond to emergencies.
As part of my project I have been asked to raise £800 which will go towards the hard work Y - Care does. On the 4th - 8th August 2014 I raised around £200 by living below the line. The challenge is simple: Live on £1 a day for seven days. In reality this was extremely though, especially as I am a big foodie! I have since raised another £150 from baking cakes and hosting a games day. On the 12th September I will be holding a Quiz Night at Havent's Hockey Club so come along and keep sponsoring!!
