We provide emotional support to people who are in crisis, feel distressed or are thinking of suicide. We give them the time & space to talk about feelings, help them understand their problems better & explore options. It costs £75 a day to run our centre & we depend upon voluntary contributions.

Story

Thanks for getting this far.  In the last few years,  a love of wine and absolutely no willpower has led me to drink far too much Sauvignon Blanc.

Those who know me have endured many empty promises to give up and generally now scoff with derision if I even start to utter, 'I am going to give up wine because...'.  I think that, for me, it is far harder to give up alcohol than to do an Ironman.  So, with exactly four months to go until the Ironman triathlon (Ironman Sweden, 3.8K swim, 112 mile bike and then a marathon run), I am going to give up all alcohol until the event and ask that friends and family sponsor me a bottle of wine.  It can be a cheap plonk at £3.99, a bottle of my favourite Villa Maria for £8.99, or (if you are my mother), a bottle of Champagne!

This way, if I even sniff a bottle of wine, I will be letting a lot of people down.  Every so often when the urge gets too much, I'll also sponsor myself a virtual bottle.  As I get nearer the event, I'll change this wording (obviously!) and invite children at school to sponsor me.

Thank you so much for helping me to save my liver and supporting a charity that is very important to my family.
