Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon 2017 · 8 October 2017 ·
Earlier in the year, when it was a vague possibility via ballot, and months away, I took it upon myself to enter the Royal Parks Half and didn't really think much more about it. Then I got in.
As a reluctant runner and procrastinator extraordinaire I was pretty pleased with myself starting training 20 weeks out, but it didn't quite go to plan and I suddenly found myself with 9 weeks left....whoops. I'm back on track (ish), will hopefully finish (if not in any style) and thought - as this will be such a challenge for me and having not cracked out a sponsorship form since lower school - it would be a good opportunity to raise some money for a charity I care deeply about.
Rape Crisis England and Wales is the umbrella company for a nationwide network of Rape Crisis centres, which provide vital support and assistance to people who have experienced rape and sexual assault. They also do great work promoting the needs and rights of women and girls who have experienced sexual violence, improving services available to them, fighting widespread misunderstanding about these sorts of crimes, and working towards the elimination of sexual violence. With many centres underfunded, and with 1 in 5 women experiencing sexual violence of some kind in their lifetime, your money can help to really make a difference.
Any donations are massively appreciated!
