I am taking part in Sober for October.to raise money for the  Stroke Wards at the Royal Sussex County hospital in Brighton. April was transferred to the female stroke Ward after Leslie had his stroke so they could be near each other. The Nurses wheeled Leslie across everyday to visit her. Also the Nurses encouraged him to write love notes to her 💌Visiting those Wards was very sad, some waiting to die, some in the grips of dementia and some who were fighting bravely. A dire building in need of attention, old fashioned dormitory style Wards but with the compassion and care that is the human spirit of the NHS.
During the last days of Aprils life I made her an album of all her Get well cards and wishes. The doctors and nurses commented that they wished all patients had one like it, to remind them of how much they are loved, so part of the money raised will be put to buying scrapbooks for families to create memories and use as a healing tool.
