Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am excited to be taking part in the Wincanton Charity race on Sunday 24th October to raise funds for Racing Welfare. Having been involved in racing for many years I am fully aware of the great work they do.
I have worked in Paul Nicholls' office for nearly 15 years and although I used to ride in point to points in my younger days I haven't had much time for riding out in recent years due to family commitments. However the opportunity to ride in this race has given me the challenge to get back out there and I am really looking forward to it!
A little bit about this amazing charity....
Racing Welfare is a registered charity supporting the workforce of British horseracing, including stud, stable and racecourse staff, alongside those working in associated roles across the industry. We offer professional guidance and practical help to all those whose dedication is vital for the well-being of racing. Our work aims to help people, from recruitment to retirement, to thrive in day-to-day life and through a range of life’s challenges.
In 2020, Racing Welfare saw a huge increase in those coming to the charity for support. By the end of the year, we supported over 4,500 individuals, marking an 80% increase on the numbers from 2019. The fallout of Covid-19 continues to impact many people across the horseracing industry and the charity’s services remain in high demand.
Racing Welfare relies almost exclusively on donations. This Wincanton Race Day is specifically aimed at increasing awareness of the wide breadth of services that the charity provides and at raising essential funds to help us to support the people who made your day at the races possible.
Thank you for your support, any donations are hugely appreciated.
