Grief Encounter aims to relieve the emotional distress of bereaved children, young people and their families. We help by developing and promoting resources and by raising public awareness of bereavement issues for children. No-one can wave a magic wand but Grief Encounter can help the journey.

Story

Hello

My name is Sarah. My mummy died when I was 5, I’m now 38. Although tragic there is more to me than just this...

I’m planning to run the Brighton Marathon on April 14th 2019. In memory of my mum but also to support Grief Encounter - the AMAZING charity that supports young people at their most vulnerable; when they have suffered a major bereavement.

I am currently training to become an Art Therapist and Grief Encounter has welcomed me  into their very caring organisation. I have been astounded by the level of support they are able to offer young people and their families, despite those who control the purse strings to our country having no national strategy for young people who are bereaved. (They don’t even know how many there are of us!) Watch my video essay if you are interested… https://vimeo.com/261727710

I would ask you to consider donating to support this fabulously caring and supportive service. Please also wish me luck - although I do run I have never got close to marathon feats. But, like with everything I am going to give it my best shot as I know that is what mummy would have wanted…

xXx
