Ronald McDonald House Charities UK is an independent charity providing free 'home away from home’ accommodation for families with children in hospital. Thanks to the fundraising, donations and volunteering of supporters, we have helped nearly 50,000 families in our 30 year history.

Story

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children having treatment in hospital. Our Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain. We help over 6,000 families each year and now, more than ever, we need your support. Thank you.

Two families we know have needed this vital charity to ensure they can be together at this tough time in their lives. In 2021 one of Lennon’s friend’s from school was diagnosed with sinusitis but the infection had spread to her brain, causing an abscess known as pott's puffy tumour, resulting in a seven-hour operation. Ronald McDonald was so important to them to keep their family together and so they could also have some normality for their older son. Maya has now recovered amazingly! She is a little superstar!

Most recently one of Sarah’s best friends has needed this charity. Just before Christmas 2022 it was discovered their baby girl at just 5 weeks old needed emergency heart surgery after being diagnosed with an extremely rare heart condition. She is currently still in recovery and awaiting more operations. Ronald McDonald House has provided them a safe place they can be together away from the hospital and have their 2yr old son close by. They are in Southampton hospital and they live in Reading so are not at all local. They are so grateful for this charity for this support at such a hard times and it gives their 2 year old some normality as all children should have.

So please any donation no matter how small would be so gratefully appreciated. Thank you for reading.
